SECURITY
NO USER INFORMATION IS COLLECTED BY THIS WEB SITE.
This web site relies solely on "client-side" operations and processing.
Apart from sending the web pages requested by the user, no "server-side" processing is employed at all.
This means that no information is collected or stored from any user of this web site.
As a result HTTP is used rather than HTTPS, the high security version.
All use of this site is completely anonymous.
However, the interactive pages of this site do rely on the use of "cookies", "pop-ups" and "Active Scripting".
Cookies are used to exchange information between the interactive pages, pop-ups are used to ensure that when a page is closed, the user is returned to the main web site and the pages themselves are generated using active scripting
If you are intending to use the interactive pages of this site, it is therefore important that Cookies, Pop-ups and Active Scripting are enabled on your web browser.
Allowing JAVA applets to run.
Go to Control Panel and click on the Java icon. Select the Security tab at the top and move the slider down to minimum. Click OK. A warning message will occur when an applet is used.
The interactive pages of this web site use scripted windows to prompt for the user's name so that it can be used for the mark sheet with the online tests.
By default, Microsoft in Internet Explorer 7/8 have disabled this because in very rare cases hackers have used this method to intercept log on details.
To overcome this you need to use a modern browser e.g. Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome or Edge
If you must use Internet Explorer then adjust the custom browser settings by
Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Custom level and then scroll down to near the bottom check
"Allow web sites to prompt for information using Scripted Windows".
This will enable this function for all web sites.
Alternatively, the web site needs to be put into the trusted zone.
To do this open http://www.ikes.16mb.com in IE7/8.
Then use Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Trusted Sites.
Click the 'Sites' button.
Uncheck the 'Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone.'
Then click the 'Add' button and IKES will be added to the Trusted Zone.
Then click 'Close'.
For CD/DVD/Flash Drive users:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab.
Scroll down to Security and select Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer and
Allow active content to run in files on My Computer.
To ensure that the scripted pages run without a prompt, it is also worth setting the Local Intranet security to low.
To do this, open IE and then choose Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet.
Drag the slider down to the low position.
These problems do not occur with any other web browsers, e.g. Firefox, Opera, Safari or Chrome!
